Say hello to Alex, our Social Value Apprentice!

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week (10 – 14 February), we’re shining a spotlight on our fantastic Social Value Apprentice Alexander Quirk, based within our Social Value team at Fusion21.
Read on and get to know Alex in our quick Q&A:
Why did you want to do an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship was an attractive option for me as I wanted to gain some experience in the workplace whilst also learning, and it’s a bonus to get paid!
I’m studying to achieve my Level 4 Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Apprenticeship over 20 months and learning lots of new skills along the way.
What have you found most enjoyable so far working at Fusion21?
The Social Value team and wider business have been really welcoming – and I’ve enjoyed having the contrast between working in an office environment and getting out and about - visiting developers and contractors on live construction sites.
What has surprised you the most about your experience as an apprentice to date?
Having the opportunity to work with colleagues across different Fusion21 teams, taking me out of my comfort zone. I’ve also been lucky to complete some off-site work experience on a construction site which has been a highlight for me!
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your role?
Getting used to a new daily routine. Now I’ve adjusted my alarm clock I’m getting used to working full days Monday to Friday although – it’s a different schedule to many of my friends!
Tell us something that people don’t know about you.
I’m an avid football fan! Everton is my team – I’ve got a season ticket and go to most of the games.
