Wokingham Borough Council commissions Modular Buildings Contract for Addington School
Fusion21 member Wokingham Borough Council has awarded Reds10, a leading design and build modular contractor, a contract worth £2million after accessing our Modular Buildings Framework.
Reds10 is building a new 1,000m2 additional facility for Addington School, an Outstanding Special School for children and young people with educational needs and disabilities.
The project is due to be completed in May 2020 and works will include four classrooms, a café and social/breakout areas.
The expansion will enable an additional 50 local children with special educational needs and disabilities to be educated closer to home, with the school’s capacity boosted to more than 250 students due to the extra space.
"This project will not only enhance Addington School’s learning facilities, it will also importantly accommodate growing student numbers for September intake 2020.
Everyone at Addington School is excited to see this project coming to fruition,” said Addington School head teacher, Sara Attra. “We are already looking forward to seeing the brand new building in action with the range of classrooms and other exciting teaching areas available to our students from September.”
Piers Brunning, Senior Specialist (People and Place) at Wokingham Borough Council
Oliver Mooney, Category Manager (Construction) at Fusion21 added: “Off-site construction is an innovative and cost-effective way for schools to deliver much needed learning additional space and we’re delighted Addington School will benefit from a modular solution.
“Sixty to seventy per cent of the building work for the new block will be completed offsite, helping to keep disruption to the school and its students at a minimum.”
