Residents of homes managed by Wealden District Council in East Sussex are enjoying lower fuel bills thanks to energy efficiency works completed by Osborne Energy Ltd.

Appointed via our Decarbonisation Framework to work on various projects (detailed below), Osborne Energy provided a full turnkey solution from design to completion for all measures installed over a five-year contract period.

Energy efficiency project

The project – funded through the council’s planned works pipeline as Cap Ex - took properties from an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) G rating to a minimum of a C rating and achieved a carbon saving of 88.4 tonnes per year.

The improvements installed included solar PV, air source heat pumps, loft insulation, cavity wall extraction, cavity wall refill, and tile hanging insulation on solid walls – plus, ventilation works including trickle vents, undercuts, and mechanical fans.

SHDF Wave 2.2

Funded by £1.4 million from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 2.2 and £1.8 million co-funding, energy-saving measures are to be completed to PAS2035 standard to 104 homes - including flats, houses and bungalows using similar measures to the ‘Energy efficiency project’ - with fuel poverty a key consideration over the next two years

Air Source Heat Pump Supplementary Solar PV

A further 87 homes benefitted from a scheme to add solar panels onto properties with existing ASHPs, which saved 12,615 kWh/m2 per year for heating with 130.5 tonnes of CO2.

Insulation upgrade

A continuing project to assess and upgrade or replace insulation to council properties also forms part of this procurement in the quest to improve thermal quality for the end users.

Oliver Mooney, Head of Category at Fusion21, said: “We are delighted to have helped Wealden District Council achieve these carbon reduction savings while also delivering energy bill reductions for their residents.”

Stephen Bottomley, Procurement Business Partnership Manager at Wealden District Council, said: “Fusion21’s Decarbonisation Framework provided streamlined access to an excellent array of suppliers. The award process was simple to follow and the support from FusioN21 was flawless throughout. We would use the framework and Fusion21 again.”
