Our supplier Sterling Services has had a positive impact on 21-year-old Leighton Orr - thanks to a project to extend The Gate, a community centre in North Huyton, Liverpool.
Procured through us by North Huyton Communities Future, the works were delivered following a grant from the Government's Youth Investment Fund (YIF).
Previously long-term unemployed, Leighton developed on-site skills in bricklaying, plumbing, roofing, decorating, and electrical work. He learned about site management practices, health and safety protocols, and operations management and became a fully qualified telehandler driver.
Inspired by his experiences on-site, he is considering pursuing an electrical apprenticeship.
Leaving a legacy for the community to enjoy, the contractor delivered additional social value activity including the supply and installation of a new kitchen at the community centre.
As champions of social value, we take an outcome-driven approach to procurement. We listen to our members’ challenges and help them design social value delivery plans that make a visible difference.
To date, we’ve delivered more than £200 million in social impact and created more than 13,550 employment outcomes. Click here to read how we can help you from initial concept to final delivery.
