Hundreds of homes are receiving green makeovers after Gravesham Borough Council accessed Fusion21’s Decarbonisation Framework
Hundreds of homes are receiving green makeovers and are set to become more energy efficient after Gravesham Borough Council accessed our Decarbonisation Framework.
Retrofit assessment surveys were carried out at 1800 properties to identify those that required loft and cavity internal insulation to upgrade them to an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) band C rating.
Using £800,000 funding awarded through Wave 1 of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), £1.6 million of retrofit works are being delivered to 364 properties across Gravesham by construction partner Mulalley.
The council was also awarded £375,000 SHDF funding through Wave 2.2 and has continued to use our Decarbonisation framework, with Mulalley now carrying out loft and cavity wall insulation works to an additional 105 properties.
Upon completion, residents will benefit from reduced household energy bills – with an estimated saving of £263 a year, in addition to homes feeling warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
The local community is benefiting from social value you can see delivered through these contracts. Activity has included a careers workshop advising residents about how to gain and sustain employment in the construction industry.
Mulalley has also supplied and installed a playground at Carl Ekman House – one of the council’s residential flat blocks, costing £10,000. The contracts have ensured the use of local labour and supply chains.
One happy resident said after the improvement works: “The house already feels less cold upstairs, especially with the loft hatch down. We have not had to put the heating on yet, and we are hoping it will be this easy during the winter. The retrofit work was worth getting done and should save us in the long run.”
Our national Decarbonisation Framework supports members, including registered housing providers, to deliver against a zero-carbon agenda.
Oliver Mooney, Head of Category at Fusion21 said: “It’s great to see hundreds of homes across Gravesham receiving green investment, with residents and the wider community already feeling the benefit of such important improvement works.”
This framework has already generated £250 million in decarbonisation retrofit projects, on behalf of our members in the housing, health, and education sectors.
