250 council homes in West Lancs benefit from energy improvements after procuring through Fusion21
A total of 250 homes across West Lancashire are undergoing improvements to increase the energy efficiency of homes and reduce carbon emissions.
Work to bring the homes up to an Energy Performance Certificate rating of C is underway and is due to be completed in September 2025.
West Lancashire Borough Council used our Decarbonisation Framework for the project.
The council appointed Fusion21 supplier Sustainable Building Services (UK) Limited to retrofit 250 homes, with an estimated project value of just over £7 million.
The measures have been part funded by £1.8 million from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund and will cover a variety of works across each property, including installing thermal insulation to ground floors to a U-value of 0.25. A U-value is a measure of how easily heat passes through the material.
Other improvements include cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, double or triple-glazed replacement windows and doors, and energy-efficient heating including air source heat pumps and solar panels.
Our national Decarbonisation Framework helps members meet their zero carbon goals by working collaboratively to reduce emissions and increase cost savings.
To date, this framework has generated £250 million of energy efficiency works across housing, health, and education sectors, supported by various government-funded schemes.
The direct award process enabled West Lancashire Borough Council to start the project promptly with a trusted contractor.
Oliver Mooney, Head of Category at Fusion21 said: “Our collaboration with West Lancashire Borough Council highlights the effectiveness of our Decarbonisation Framework in delivering impactful energy efficiency measures.
“We’re proud to be supporting projects, like this one, through our framework. This project will significantly enhance the energy efficiency of 250 homes, reducing carbon emissions and improving living conditions for tenants.”
